Depression, Alcoholism, Attention Deprivation and Compulsive Liar.
Hey, I was really looking for some advise due to being a concerned stepmom. My stepson who is 12 lives with his mother half of the week, but she is a secret alcoholic. She drinks non stop disguising it in a coffee thermas. She comes up with the weirdest stories to over react on to get attention from ex's and friends and family. She lies non stop even to her son, who is trying to cover up for her misbehavior all the time. She has physically attacked two of her ex's and has recently started harrasing an ex's sister with lies about being pregnant with her brothers child for a second time after the first time she had gotten an abortion due to drinking and using anti-depressants during the first stages of pregnancy. Her lies and attention seeking ways are driving everybody insane and we don't know how to help her and keep my stepson safe during the process. She is unpredictable and we never know what to expect next... eventhough she's a master at covering up her scandals, so many threads are coming undone and we think she's in way over her head. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

The only thing I could think of would be to try for full custody. you will need to speak with lawyers being as I have no clue what canada's laws are when it comes to custody and so forth, but with the child's age they should take a lot of what he says into account, and i would also suggest keeping a detailed journal of everything going on along with any thing that can prove it. Maybe they will suggest random drug tests to test for alcohol. Also if she is harrasing people i would think it would be best to get a personal protection order or get police records of it and it will also help show how unstable she is. I feel limited on advice for that since again I don't understand how Canada's laws on such things are, but if you can consult with a lawyer i would think they could at least point you in the right direction.

better disclose all these matters to your relations especially to your husband, and try to be ready for all those drama's and hues she does... if possible take her to consultant or possibly to a psychiatrist..
