Bathroom issues and especially last night

Last night I overflowed a toilet at home. It was the 1st time that I have done this in awhile. Do it from to time. Even though I try my best with this and etc. Some how it never lasts when I'm good with this and go back to when I'm bad. At the 1st I thought it was too much paper in the bowl and in the end it wasn't. Also, waited to tell my mom for awhile figuring it was what I 1st thought. At 1st she was angry and which I understand now. Not at the moment of course. On top of that the toilet that I used is old and the oldest in the house. Mom called the plumber, this morning and the earliest that he come to take a look at it, is Monday. Understand its the weekend and especially a holiday, but he should have at least came to take a look at it.

How do I go about fixing this behavior for good and etc. Even when I tried everything possible to fix this.

The toilet itself is a old one and way overdo for a replacement. That means besides overflow of course.

You might want to flush it more often while you are using it. I mean half way though your "business" flush it. Then while you are using toilet paper flush it before you are finished. That way you will be flushing less down with each flush instead of all at once.

What about using a plunger? They don't cost much.
