    First Episode

Anyone remember when they had their first episode. I have always had problems throughout my life but I think my first known episode was when I was 13. I stayed awake for three days and had delusions. Anyone else remember the first time either a depressive or manic episode hit them?

    Re: First Episode

I've always had depression come and go. I recenetly had my first true manic episode I was aware of shortly before this past summer. I felt amazing, like I could take on the world and everythng was perfect, euphoria, all that jazz. I was walking to the mall wth my girlfriend, and I just remember thinking it was one of the best moments of my life. Ater my grlfriend had to leave, I went home, began writng and didn't stop until early the next mornng. Good times.

    Re: First Episode

I have dealt with depression all my life, before I became manic several years ago and began cycling. I've always felt wrong somehow since I was about 8, I seemed to have a lot of anger. I remember my first panic attack at age 12 and the next one at 15. My parents thought I was a little a****** and so I wasn't taken to a psychiatrist. Later, as an adult, I finally saw a pysch doc, and the doc I am currently seeing is outstanding, I have a lot of respect for him, and that is so hard to find in a pdoc, I know from much experience. Sorry for rambling a bit, but those are my first memories of being ill.

    Re: First Episode

Age 11. I looked in the mirror and suddenly realized I had no idea what I was looking at. that first episode of dissociation, combined with a growing inability to become emotionally involved in life, led to a deep sense of unreality. Whatever real life was, it felt like I wasn't living it. The other symptoms of major depression followed soon after.
