Signs of Depression in Men and Women

Depression comes in different forms and stages and it affect men and women differently. The signs of depression can come in different ways which can be undetectable. People frequently associate a depressed person with sadness. Another sign people look for is been extremely introverted with suicidal cues. Depression signs can come in so many forms, it could come as an extremely happy person, overly nice person, too much energy etc. Having another illness coupled with depression can also make the symptoms much worse.
They are other causes which may heighten the signs of depression and even make it much worse. Not getting enough sleep can also cause severe depression. An already depressed person who is lacking sleep will begin to have mood swings, one moment very happy and then sad again. It can also cause insomnia where the person is not getting enough sleep or just the opposite of getting too much sleep. If the person continues to experience and aggravate these symptoms, it can lead to far worse situation like body pains, migraines, alcohol abuse and eating disorders.
It is also worthy to note that because of the biological difference between men and women, it can affect how both sexes will react to depression. Though the signs may be the same, but the reaction it may cause may be quite different. For example, relatively low sunlight during the cold season can have more effect on women than on men.
In general, women have been shown to more tendency for depression. Because of the biological makeup of women, they are various things which can cause them depression.
A woman who is going through hormonal changes might exhibit depressive signs. Since the body is going through hormonal adjustment, the woman will also be going through mood swings. Issue like pregnancy can cause depression. There are so many other factor that can affect women that will increase their chances of having depression.
In regards to men, signs you will notice in men could be sadness, too anxious, rapid weight gain, also rapid weight loss, loss of libido, shying away from friends and family. Most men who are trying to fight their depression might end up drinking alcohol instead of seeking medical attention.
They are many signs of depression. It can come in any form or shape, so it behooves us to be extra watchful when we are looking for these signs both in ourselves and our loved ones.
