I have suffered with Depression on and off for a few years now and now my doctor says that it's possible that I may have BDD but that she can't diagnose it.

Who here suffers from the condition?? How were you diagnosed and who diagnosed it???

Also, how do you cope with it???

I really need some advice as I'm very confused.

I would suggest probably getting a diagnosis from a Physchiatrist, unless your doctor is one... but they are the experts on diagnosis I would say, maybe even a Physcologist.

Really?? I'm sorry to hear about that. How do you cope with it???

I'm starting to worry that I don't in fact have BDD and that I am in fact just ugly. If that is the case I'm not sure I really wanna live with this face for the rest of my life.

I can recommend reading The Broken Mirror. It's very helpful and insightful. I think you may find it quite comforting.

I've just been referred to a Psychotherapist by my GP and have told him absolutely everything about my body image problems. He said he's gonna try and shed some light on what the problem is so hopefully next time I see him he'll have an idea on whether or not I have the dreaded BDD. I appreciate your advice, thankyou. I'll post again when i've next seen him.

Ok, well I just saw a Therapist yesterday and he said my problem is Body Dysmorhpia. So I guess in a way it's a good thing because now I know what i'm dealing with.
