SSRI antidepressants
well, a lot has happened since the last time i posted here and today i had my first appointment with a therapist. she's putting me on medication right away. i just have to go through some tests by the doctor tomorrow and if everything's alright, i should start taking them.
SSRI is what she called them. she said they're actually not allowed here in germany but they're supposed to have the least of side effects and the fastest effects. anyway, what i wanted to ask is if any of you take them or know anything about them. if it risky for me to take them cuz i'm only 15? i'm gonna go to a different therapist for regular appointments, but she's already giving medication... is that normal?

Re: SSRI antidepressants
im so glad you got help
im taking and SSRI called celexa, ssri's are just a type of antidepressants
ssri's kinda block serotonin (a chemical known to change moods) in the brain. Changing the balance of serotonin seems to help brain cells send and receive chemical messages, which in turn boosts mood.
i dont think its that risky sadly they have kids as young as like 4 taking antidepressants, im on them and im 17
i think it depends where you go i went to see a doctor and after like a few days they put me on medication but its working so i cant argue
good luck i hope the medicine helps you , if it doesnt its okay to try different types i went through like three till i found one that made me feel okay
