I am very upset @ the moment

I work in a very strange environment - people say hi to you but it's an effort to get them to chat to you and I find that I am not feeling very comfy going up to people and saying anything. My team leader basically ignores me when I have not done anything wrong nor am i a backstabber.... She only talks to me if she wants something done or I have a question. I am a happy, bubbly person and I am happy to help out others where I can. There are brown nosers and gossipers in my workplace and clicky groups....
I have been here for one year now, and right now I am feeling very down! I am also finding that since moving here (interstate) 1 year ago, I am not really sociallising as much as I want to. I feel that I miss my friends and family from where I am. but then again, I have never had close close friends - you know the ones you get in stupid books like the babysitters club or sweet valley high....Me and my partner are waiting for a home loan approval but I am wondering if I can commit to my job - I know the travel will take it's toll and I may ask for a transfer. Today I just had a really bad day - didnt even say good bye to anyone as i left the office...

I hope you are feeling better soon. Anticipating the loan is probably adding to your stress level. Have you discussed any of this with your partner? I know some places are worse than others to work it often seems like you have been sent back to high school. Do you like the job is it worth sacrificing for?

I'm really sorry to hear that you've had a bad day. I can imagine it must be very stressful waiting for a home loan and like Ashes suggested , this would definitely be adding stress to your every day life. Gossip and clicks in the work place seems to be very common. I myself have only had one part time job and it was quite annoying how bitchy people were. Also my sister tells me about the same kind of behavior at her work. The bottom line is, changing jobs really won't have a positive outcome, mainly because no matter where you go, people are all the same. I know it can be hard making friends but it's all about stepping out of your comfort zone and asking them how they are instead of just saying hello. I hope things all work out for you and your home loan gets approved

I agree with Timothy. You're going to find gossip in all workplaces, the trick is just working on ignoring it. Harder than it sounds I know but I can guarantee if you make it a habit now it will make work much easier to deal with. All the best with the home loan.

That's some good advice there Fey
Gossip is just a way of life, nearly everyone does it, especially in the work place when people are bored out of their minds
If you can practice ignoring it then you will find it is a lot easier to work. My sister copes a lot of crap at work because she does her job well but she just ignores the other girls because she knows they are just annoyed that she makes them look bad.
