Sister

I keep trying to convince my sister to use the clinic I have to go to. She has no insurance and the clinic works on a sliding scale. She needs to go get some anti depressants. I have heard her making statements like " she has given up, she doesn't care anymore, ect...". I am trying to get her to go because she went through a divorce about a year ago and I think the hard reality of single motherhood has set in. She thought she would be able to date and money would just come. Life isn't that simple. The point is I can see the depression and she wont reach out for help. She says she has nothing to be depressed over so the doctors would look at her like she was crazy. Anyone else know someone who needs help but wont get it?

Sounds like me. I was like that just before I was diagnosed. I think I was in denial and unfortunately I had to come crashing down - my precious sister then took me in my somewhat catatonic state to see a psych and thats how I got my foot in the door...

Thanks for responding. That is how I became also although I thought it was due to my bipolar. It was a mixed episode I was having I didnt realize you could become that way just from the depression. I dont want to see her get that bad. I will keep an eye on her and still try to persuade her to go.

My own sister has severe depression/violent behavior stuff, and is also a drug addict. I have never been able to get her to do anything she didn't want to. Sorry, I'm not of much help to you. I just wanted you to know you are not alone.
