just wanting to know everyones experiences or opinions on ECT

I have heard that it helps some people very much. I had 9 ECT's about 26 years ago. I did lose some short term memory, and they gave me a headache and made me tired. They perhaps helped my depression a little bit, but it nothing for my OCD.

ECT seems to be explored as a treatment option after other treatments (including pharmaceuticals) seem to not work. There can be some side effects of ECT (including short term memory loss like zoyzjoy mentioned) so it should not be considered lightly as a depression treatment. Actually, Zoyajoy wrote a post a few weeks ago that talked about a treatment therapy called EMT or electromagnetic therapy which stimulates the brain through radiation waves and the use of magnets and is kind of like ECT and may have fewer side effects. Am I right Zoyajoy? Is this in fact a similar treatment?

Hmmmm......must have been someone else, as I don't know anything about electromagnetic therapy. But thanks for making me sound real smart!
