Liquid Antidepressant that doesn't cause Erectile Dysfunction

Hello,

I have been on medication for 3 years now for Depression and Anxiety (Effexor now and previously Losec) and both worked for me.

Happy 'most of the time' and able to cope 'most of the time'.

But both cause impotence. When I got sick of this and went off them, sexually speaking I became 'normal' again. But then the depression and anxiety returned. As it is right now :-(

I also struggle taking tablets (honestly it takes me 5 minutes to get one down) and I feel awful trying to.

I can get liquid medication for everything else so why not for this as well right?!

So can anyone reccommend a 'hopefully pleasant tasting' liquid antidepressant that does not affect sexual function?

I know medications are specific to the individual and of course I will discuss with my doctor. I just want some ideas is all :-)

hmm, I don't know of any liquid antidepressants maybe someone else does. Sexual side effects do exist with antidepressants in my experience. They didn't really cause impotence with me but they made orgasming take FOREVER and not in a good way. It was a real chore to "finish." They say not all antidepressants are as bad as others when it comes to sexual things. Did you tell your doctor about the issue? You might want to try something else that hopefully has less sexual side effects.

Maybe you should speak to your doctor and ask if there is a liquid version of antidepressants but as far as Im aware they do not come as a liquid. Antidepressants have affected my sex drive (im not interested in it at all) again speak to your doctor and tell him how it has killed your sex drive. Sex is a healthy way of life so they will change your medication that will hopefully not affect this.

Have you asked your doctor whether you can change meds? I would if you're not happy with the side effects. I've just gone off cymbalta, I had no sex drive at all and it was starting to affect my relationship, plus it wasn't doing much for my moods. Now I'm on something else, *fingers crossed* my sex drive comes back, its still early days.
I've heard of anti-psychotics being in liquid form, no idea about antidepressants though. Maybe if you do change meds you can get ones that you can break up really small, I know you can't do that with effexor.

Ok I have found some liquid antidepressants if anyone else is interested in knowing about them.

They are:

1. Remeron Soltab (dissolves on the tongue and you just swallow)

2. Lexapro Oral Solution (peppermint flavour)

3. Celexa Oral Solution (dunno what flavour that is)


Am taking this list to my doctor tomorrow and asking her if she thinks any would be suitable for me.

The Remeron seems to have the least effect on erectile dysfunction but it is a different class of antidepressant to what I've take before as it affects the Noradrenaline and Seretonin levels (not that I'm an expert).
